Charitable Giving and Support Fair Trade

Throughout the year the churches in the benefice subscribe to different charities, notably the Children’s Society and Save the Children.  A local charity that we also frequently support is “The Porch “ in Oxford which supplies food and care for the homeless, and an initiative that Leafield has taken up recently is a charity called Playpumps whereby children in Africa are provided with  roundabouts to play on and in so doing pump sufficient clean water for their villages.

H20 , our youth group supports various charities during the year including Children in Need  and Water Aid and they usually have a lot of fun doing it.

Some would say that charity begins at home and our churches are forever asking for money in order to keep them open; well true and so our policy is “home and away”.. Yes we need the money to pay our parish share and to improve our buildings so that they are available to the community and fit for purpose , but to follow Christ it is imperative that we learn to share with people in this country and the rest of the world.  If you would like to make a donation to any of our causes please contact Kirsten Ireland on kandr.ireland@tiscali.co.uk . Remember, if you do, so will the Chancellor; 22p for every gift donated.
